Bio


Emily Songster has over 20 years of experience in industries such as healthcare, publishing, marketing communications, non-profit and music. Emily also has art direction and photography experience, and is highly skilled in typography, information design and color.

Emily received her BFA in Graphic Design from Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia. She studied in Switzerland with Armin Hofmann, Paul Rand and Wolfgang Weingart at the Yale Graphic Design Summer Program.


Emily has worked as a Graphic Designer for many firms, including MedAmerica, a management support organization for a national partnership of emergency physicians; Fern Tiger Associates, a marketing communications firm with a national clientele of non-profit organizations; Diesel Design, a creative communications agency; ComputerLife, a national monthly magazine, published by Ziff-Davis; Portal Publications, a graphic arts publisher (now called Innovative Art); and Disc Makers, a CD and DVD Manufacturer.


Emily’s freelance client list has included design studios and agencies: Artistic Studios, Curium Design, Gumas, SBG Enterprise (now called The Brand Union) and Vanderbyl Design; national monthly magazines: Red Herring, MacAddict and Games Business; retailers: Pottery Barn and The North Face; and investment firm: Charles Schwab.


Emily is a member of the AIGA and the Graphic Artists Guild. She resides in Oakland with her husband, daughter, cat, and dog.
