OVERVIEW
Grace, born with Down syndrome and Apraxia, couldn’t speak at all as a child and moved her mother Valerie to learn Sign Language together with her. Grace’s friends and classmates joined in on the learning and Valerie, recognizing a need for engaging interactive learning of Sign Language, founded GraceSigns. Since 2013, they have published three educational mobile apps and plan to create more.
GraceSigns builds awareness of abilities of children with special needs by creating educational software applications that teach reading and Sign Language through story, music, and videos.
Goals
• Enhance the design of the GraceSigns brand with a new logo and website, putting a focus on growing donations and app downloads.
• Position Valerie as a subject matter expert by pulling on the extensive blog writing she has done.
• Design their fourth mobile game, Sign Me A Song, for teaching sign language through original songs and music videos.
Challenge
The three current mobile games have been worked on by a range of different volunteers at various times and lack a unifying framework to make them feel like a part of one suite
Some design standards and guidelines for the games, website, and social marketing materials would help to strengthen the GraceSigns brand.
